Lorelle L. Espinosa

Lorelle L. Espinosa has a diverse and extensive work experience. Lorelle L. is currently working as a Program Director at the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, where they are responsible for developing and implementing strategies to advance diversity, equity, and inclusion in STEM higher education. Lorelle L. has launched various initiatives to transform graduate science and engineering education to be more inclusive and equitable.

Before joining the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, Espinosa served as Vice President for Research at the American Council on Education, where they led the organization's research portfolio and played a key role in producing thought leadership on public policy and institutional strategy in higher education. Lorelle L. also held the position of Assistant Vice President for Policy Research and Strategy at the same institution.

Prior to their role at the American Council on Education, Espinosa worked as a Senior Analyst at Abt Associates, where they contributed to education research and evaluation projects, with a focus on diversity in STEM fields. Lorelle L. also served as the Director of Policy and Strategic Initiatives at the Institute for Higher Education Policy, where they provided strategic direction for grant-funded initiatives and established partnerships to increase college access and degree attainment for underrepresented groups.

Earlier in their career, Espinosa held roles at prestigious universities such as UCLA, where they worked as a Research Analyst and Project Co-lead, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where they served as the Director of Recruitment and Associate Director of Admissions. At MIT, they managed the undergraduate recruitment strategy with a focus on diversity and oversaw the admissions processes.

Espinosa also worked at Stanford University as a Program Coordinator, where they facilitated a residential advising program and designed mentoring workshops and curriculum. Lorelle L. started their career at UC Davis as a Student Affairs Coordinator.

Lorelle L. Espinosa has a strong educational background with degrees from prestigious institutions. Lorelle L. attended Santa Barbara City College from 1992 to 1995, earning an Associate of Arts degree in Liberal Studies. Following this, they pursued their Bachelor of Arts degree in Studio Art at the University of California, Davis from 1995 to 1997. Later, from 2005 to 2009, they enrolled in the University of California, Los Angeles, where they completed their PhD in Higher Education and Organizational Change.
