Vanessa Herman

Vanessa Herman, CHRL, is a seasoned human resources professional with extensive experience in employee performance, development, and strategic HR management. Currently serving as a Specialist in Employee Performance and Development at Algonquin College of Applied Arts and Technology, Vanessa also teaches Employee Relations in the HR Graduate Certificate program. Prior roles include Human Resources Manager at the Ottawa Humane Society, where leadership encompassed full-cycle recruitment, employee engagement, and strategic advisory during transformative periods such as the COVID-19 pandemic. Vanessa’s career also includes HR Generalist roles at Elemental Data Collection and consulting experience, along with early contributions to public relations and community investment initiatives at various organizations. Academic credentials include a Human Resources Management Graduate Certificate from Algonquin College and a MA in Political Science from the University of Guelph.
