JiEun Song, PhD

JiEun Song, PhD has a diverse range of work experience in the field of scientific research and data analysis. They have worked as a Scientist II and Scientist I at Aligos Therapeutics, where they managed and mentored junior lab members and gained hands-on experience with computational biology and NGS data analysis. They also evaluated target knockdown of siRNA compounds in NASH model in vitro and in vivo.

Additionally, JiEun worked as a Scientist at City of Hope, where they evaluated the anti-tumor effects of cell-penetrating antibody and small molecule drugs on ovarian and pancreatic cancers, and gained experience in NGS data analysis. As a Bioinformatics Scientist in a freelance capacity, they provided insights to clients through predictive machine learning models and also worked with NGS data analysis.

JiEun's earlier experience includes working as a Graduate Research Assistant at Hanyang University, where they were involved in building the lab, developing procedures and protocols, and publishing papers as a first author and co-author.

JiEun Song, PhD, has a strong educational background in molecular, cellular, and developmental biology. JiEun earned their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree from The Ohio State University, where they studied from 2009 to 2015. Prior to that, JiEun completed a Master's degree in Life Science | Biology at Hanyang University, from 2005 to 2007. JiEun also holds a Bachelor's degree in Life Science | Biology from the same university, which they obtained from 2000 to 2004.

In addition to their formal education, JiEun has pursued further certifications to enhance their skills. JiEun completed the Genomic Data Science Specialization by Johns Hopkins University through Coursera in October 2020. Earlier in the same year, they obtained a certification in Data Science & Machine Learning from Metis. Moreover, JiEun has received certifications in several genomics-related subjects, including the UCSC Xena Genome Browser from City of Hope in 2018, and various courses such as Algorithms for DNA Sequencing, Bioconductor for Genomic Data Science, Command Line Tools for Genomic Data Science, Genomic Data Science with Galaxy, Introduction to Genomic Technologies, Partek Flow, Python for Genomic Data Science, and Statistics for Genomic Data Science, all completed through Coursera.
