Pratheebha Karuppusamy

Data Scientist at Alkymi

Pratheebha Karuppusamy has had a diverse work experience. In 2021, they began working as a Data Scientist at Alkymi, where they are delivering the first Data Inbox to the enterprise. Prior to this, they were an Artificial Intelligence Fellow at Insight Data Science in 2020. In 2019, they held multiple roles at Penn State University, including Graduate Learning Assistant, Grading Assistant, Learning Assistant, and Research Member at the Crowd-AI Lab. In their role as Research Member, they engineered a hybrid encoder-decoder model using attention mechanisms for visual storytelling, utilized Graph Convolutional Networks to learn the relationship between detected objects in the input image sequence, and achieved baseline performance of 0.3 METEOR score in one-third of the baseline training time. Pratheebha also pre-processed the updated version of the VIST Dataset (VIST 2.0) and implemented baseline models for application in visual storytelling.

Pratheebha Karuppusamy completed a Bachelor of Engineering from Anna University in 2018, majoring in Electrical, Electronics and Communications Engineering. In 2020, they received their Master of Science in Electrical Engineering with a minor in Computational Sciences from Penn State University. Additionally, they have obtained several certifications from Coursera, including Databases and SQL for Data Science (2020), Deep Learning Specialization (2019), Sequence Models (2019), Structuring Machine Learning Projects (2019), Convolutional Neural Networks (2019), Improving Deep Neural Networks: Hyperparameter tuning, Regularization and Optimization (2019), and Neural Networks and Deep Learning (2019).
