All Options is growing and therefore we are looking for a versatile Systems Engineer to join our IT Infrastructure team to take shared ownership of our existing infrastructure and to define, implement and manage the internal high performance side of the IT environment.

WHAT YOU’LL DO AS A SYSTEMS ENGINEER

As a proprietary trading firm, we balance high processing requirements and low latency within the physical constraints of rack space geography. As we significantly expand our trading footprint, we are starting to build an internal Platform as a Service framework to provide a lean abstraction of the (physical/virtualized) hardware layer on which the software layer runs.

As a Systems Engineer you will share ownership of our current infrastructure with your colleagues. We expect you to become very familiar with our internal server setups, our network topology as well as our external (cloud) providers and core software to take part in the support to ensure the plant runs securely, reliably and smoothly.

Key responsibilities:

  • Defining our platform setup;
  • Migrate old setups to the new design and continuously improve the setups;
  • Implementing new installations. Together with the development team and software vendor, arranging new server deployments and connecting to exchanges;
  • Maintaining a proper backup and disaster recovery environment;
  • Analyzing and troubleshooting any issues that may arise, liaising with the development team, the vendor and/or an Exchange as necessary.

WHO ARE YOU

We are looking for someone with at least 5 years of relevant working experience in IT systems administration and/or engineering. You check the box of the majority of the requirements below and/or have the willingness to learn:

  • Experience with Linux systems administration.
  • Experience in setting up and managing a Kubernetes cluster, docker containers and container registry.
  • Experience with automation, shell scripting and familiarity with CI/CD.
  • Basic knowledge in working with Git server and tool.
  • Experience with networking (e.g. DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, firewalls).
  • Understanding of virtualization technologies and storage provisioning (e.g. VMware) is a plus.
  • Experience with industry common monitoring tools (Solarwinds, Nagios, Zabbix)
  • Experience with protocol analyzer tools (e.g. Wireshark, tcpdump, Fiddler)
  • Experience with datacenter-work, like racking equipment, cabling
  • Drive to provide clear documentation to create a proper legacy of contributions and achievements.
  • Good communication skills, a real team player and self-starter, who is capable of thinking out-of-the-box;
