John Leung has a strong background in research and development, with experience in various roles within biotech and pharmaceutical companies. John started their career as a Post Graduate Researcher at UC Davis, where they focused on characterizing microbial communities and monitoring MTBE degrading communities. John then joined AGY Therapeutics as a Research Associate III, where they conducted small molecule screens and evaluated protein-protein interactions. After that, they worked at Nuvelo as a Research Associate III, screening and characterizing functional monoclonal antibodies and establishing various assays. John then moved on to KaloBios Pharmaceuticals, where they served as a Senior Research Associate and managed the generation of stable cell lines, protein expression, and purification. John also developed Immunocytochemistry and Immunohistochemistry assays and conducted cancer stem cell target identification. Currently, John is a Director at Allakos, Inc., where they oversee biologics discovery programs and ensures high-quality reagents for target validation. John is actively involved in the development of preclinical candidates and collaborates with development groups for reagent generation.
