Ron Yu

Ron Yu has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and companies. Ron started their career at Oracle Corporation in 1994, where they worked as a Director of Worldwide Customer Support Operations. Ron then transitioned to several venture-backed companies, serving as Vice President of Customer Services and handling full P&L and operations responsibilities.

In 2002, Ron joined Openwave Systems as a Director of Marketing, leading global product marketing and driving a GTM transformation. Ron worked closely with the CFO and Sales to grow the top line and protect revenue amidst challenging market conditions.

Ron continued their career at Portal Software as a Director of Marketing, developing and executing sales programs to drive revenue. Ron gained valuable experience in managing Marketing-Sales tension and developed executive empathy.

Ron later joined Hyperion Solutions as a Director of Marketing and then transitioned to Salesforce.com as a Vice President of Marketing. At Salesforce.com, they gained insights into running a successful SaaS business and was part of breaking old-school enterprise B2B GTM models.

Ron then joined Kapow Software as a Vice President of Marketing, responsible for all aspects of marketing. Ron played a key role in addressing challenges within the company and improving its performance.

In 2011, Ron became the Managing Partner of ExecCatalyst, where they worked with executives to accelerate their career advancement and professional success. Ron also shared their expertise through leadership development, career management, and job search topics on the ExecCatalyst blog.

Ron Yu attended Stanford University Graduate School of Business and completed the Executive Management Program, earning a certificate. Ron also attended The University of Chicago Booth School of Business, where they completed the Executive Program in Corporate and Competitive Strategy, also earning a certificate. Prior to that, they attended UCLA and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Math with a specialization in computing in 1988.
