Neil Shah is a Senior Director at alliantgroup, specializing in the architecture & engineering, construction/contracting and manufacturing industries. An engineer by trade, he has worked for a prestigious architecture & engineering firm, as well as a Fortune 500 software and technology company. As a key leader in the firm’s Energy Credits & Incentives practice, Neil oversees different teams to assist the AEC (architecture, engineering and construction) industry claim federal energy incentives. Timothy Taschner

With 38 years of experience as a global and domestic professional leader, Jim Brady is an accomplished C-Suite executive who most recently served as the COO at Grant Thornton LLP in the United States. During his lengthy career, Brady has established a proven track record for his ability to grasp challenging business situations and deliver breakout P&L results.

While working as Grant Thornton’s COO, Brady also led the firm’s Public Policy team. Before that, he was the firm’s Central Region Managing Partner and a member of its Senior Leadership Team. Prior to his joining Grant Thornton, Brady was the national managing partner for U.S. Government Affairs & Public Policy for Deloitte LLP, as well as the CEO for the firm’s U.S.-India audit and advisory joint venture.

In his various executive capacities, he has created and translated business strategies into high-growth and high profit business units by quickly assessing the turnaround operating levers, developing and implementing remedial action plans and executing with a sense of urgency.

Brady is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, sits on the Board of Directors for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and is a member of the Board of Visitors for the Wake Forest University School of Business. He received his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Bryant University in Smithfield, Rhode Island.

During his tenure as CEO of Deloitte Italy, Tirelli managed 4,500 professionals and $750 million in revenue. Prior to this international role, Tirelli served as the Vice Chairman for Deloitte U.S., directly supervising its presence on the West Coast that consisted of 15 offices, 6,000 professionals and $1 billion in revenue.

In addition to his 30 years of experience with a “Big 4” accounting firm, Tirelli was the President and CEO of Herbalife International Inc., a publicly traded nutrition company that did business in 52 countries and generated $2 billion in sales.

In his current position at alliantgroup as Vice Chairman of Professional Services, Tirelli plays not only an important role in advising the firm’s executive management team on strategic and client service initiatives, but is an invaluable resource to alliantgroup’s CPA and industry partners.

Tirelli works closely with alliantgroup’s partners – advising them on issues such as revenue enhancement strategies; talent attraction, development and retention strategies; leadership, succession planning and practice management.

Frank Tirelli

Jeremy is Chief Quality Officer for alliantgroup. He is an experienced litigation attorney, having handled cases in multiple state and federal courts. Jeremy is licensed to practice law in the state of Texas, the United States Tax Court, the Court of Federal Claims, The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and numerous federal district courts. Jeremy is also an experienced corporate transactional attorney. Prior to joining alliantgroup, Jeremy practiced law at a prominent litigation law firm in Houston.

Shane is Chief Risk Officer of alliantgroup. Prior to founding alliantgroup, Shane was a partner of a prominent corporate law firm, where he served as lead counsel for the firm’s corporate practice. His experience has included representation of numerous Fortune 500 companies. Shane serves as head of alliantgroup’s National Operations and Tax Controversy practice.

Shane T. Frank

Sonny is Executive Vice President based out of alliantgroup’s New York City office. He is a Certified Public Accountant with more than 20 years of experience providing tax, mergers & acquisitions, structuring, and operational consulting to corporations, partnerships, and individual business owners throughout the world.

Previously, Sonny was a Tax Partner at Deloitte & Touche, LLP, where he managed a national consulting practice and a team of 30 professionals in 12 cities. Prior to Deloitte, Sonny was with Arthur Andersen. Sonny is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with his BBA & MPA (in tax).

Sonny Grover

The Honorable Mark W. Everson served as Commissioner of Internal Revenue from 2003 until 2007. Prior to joining the IRS, Everson held Bush administration posts as Deputy Director for Management for the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) and Controller of the Office of Federal Financial Management. Everson also served in the Reagan administration, holding several positions at the United States Information Agency and the Department of Justice. In the private sector, Everson served as Group Vice President of Finance at SC International Services, Inc., a $2 billion food services company, and as an executive with the Pechiney Group, one of France’s largest industrial groups.

As Vice Chairman of alliantgroup, Mark is responsible for strategic and operational planning for the firm; advising the Executive Committee on numerous industry issues; and educating U.S. businesses (and their CPA firms) as to the many credits & incentives available to them. Mark is passionate about helping U.S. businesses and travels throughout the country giving lectures and educational sessions, and is a frequent speaker in the media.

Mark W. Everson

Dean Zerbe is alliantgroup’s National Managing Director based in the firm’s Washington D.C. office. Prior to joining alliantgroup, Mr. Zerbe was Senior Counsel and Tax Counsel to the U.S. Senate Committee on Finance. He worked closely with then-Chairman and current Ranking Member of the Finance Committee, Senator Charles Grassley (R-IA), on tax legislation. During his tenure on the Finance Committee, Mr. Zerbe was intimately involved with nearly every major piece of tax legislation that was signed into law – including the 2001 and 2003 tax reconciliation bills, the JOBS bill in 2004 (corporate tax reform), and the Pension Protection Act. Mr. Zerbe is a frequent speaker and author on the outlook for short-term and long-term changes in tax policy, as well as ways accounting firms can help their clients lower their tax bill. He holds an LL.M. in Taxation from NYU and a J.D. from George Mason University.

David is a Senior Managing Director at alliantgroup’s Houston headquarters where he brings extensive experience in the fields of finance and bio-engineering. David’s passion to serve U.S. businesses stems from his first-hand experience seeing many biotech and tech companies fail because of lack of funding and resources. At alliantgroup, David has helped several thousand businesses claim credits and incentives which has helped them to stay in business and further the innovative work that they are doing.

Prior to joining alliantgroup, David worked on cutting-edge research in the arenas of developmental biology and gene therapy as a research and bioanalytical scientist at Introgen Therapeutics and Rice University’s Department of Biochemistry. In addition, David served as a senior analyst for the corporate development / strategy group of a regional firm. David’s research and technical background, together with his business analyst training, gives him a unique combination of skills that allows him to identify and capitalize on tax incentives for a wide variety of business enterprises.

David received his B.S. in biology from the University of Texas at Austin, his M.S. in biochemistry from Rice University, and his MBA in finance / accounting from the University of Houston.

Rick Lazio is the Senior Vice President based in alliantgroup’s New York office. Lazio is a former US Representative for New York. Throughout his tenure and post-Congressional career, he has been a strong advocate for small businesses sponsoring impactful legislation such as the Small Business Tax Fairness Act. He received his B.A. from Vassar College and his J.D. from Washington College of Law at American University.

Rizwan Virani is a Senior Vice President in alliantgroup’s Houston national office and Chief Executive Officer of Alliant Cybersecurity.

Rizwan is an experienced electrical engineer with prior experience in the semiconductor industry. He brings several years of experience and expertise in manufacturing technology, semiconductor process, electrical and mechanical hardware development, and fundamental engineering principals. Rizwan has worked with many of the world’s leading semiconductor companies, such as Intel, Samsung, AMD, and Micron. His work involved developing semiconductor hardware and processes based on specifications and requirements defined by the client. Prior to joining alliantgroup, Rizwan was a project engineer and consultant for one of the largest semiconductor capital equipment makers.

Steffanie is alliantgroup’s National Director of CPA Relations, spending the bulk of her time in Houston, New York, and Orange County. Her primary focus is managing alliantgroup’s education and awareness. She has extensive experience in public and media relations, and marketing. Prior to joining alliantgroup, she spearheaded the relationship building efforts for a prominent boutique investment advisory firm in Orange County. Steffanie’s professional experience also includes public affairs management for the Doheny Eye Institute (University of Southern California) and a media relations position with the Motorcycle Industry Council.

Steffanie M. Gunn

John is Managing Director of Tax Controversy at alliantgroup. As an experienced trial attorney and former partner in a litigation firm, he has represented hundreds of clients and tried cases to verdict throughout the United States. John specializes in rehabilitating audits where a taxpayer requires assistance after the IRS or other taxing authority announces its intent to issue a total disallowance or other negative result.

Bridgette is a director based in alliantgroup’s Houston headquarters. With over 20 years of experience in the staffing industry, Tracy is passionate about the importance of spreading the word about government-sponsored tax incentives and the role they play in keeping jobs in the U.S.

Since 2010, Tracy has partnered with more than 120 CPA firms to uncover significant tax savings for clients in the Midwest and Great Lakes region. He also served as Chair of the House Democratic Caucus, Member of the House Committee on Ways and Means, & Former Vice Chair of the House Democratic Caucus

In Congress, Crowley supported progressive policy goals such as a universal Medicare bill and a $15-per-hour minimum wage. He has served as a Member of the House Ways and Means Committee and became Chairman of the House Democratic Caucus in 2017, making him the fourth highest leader among House Democrats.

In a career devoted to government service, Steven T. Miller has spent the last 25 years with the IRS, serving the agency in a number of diverse and increasingly important roles.

He served as former IRS Acting Commissioner in 2012, but prior to that Steven served for several years as the Deputy Commissioner for Services and Enforcement, leading all IRS enforcement and service activity. Steven also served as the Commissioner of the Large and Mid-Size Business Division, overseeing IRS audits of large taxpayers and the IRS programs relating to offshore tax compliance and international tax law enforcement. As the Commissioner of the Tax Exempt and Government Entities Division, he supervised the IRS oversight of governments, tax exempt entities and retirement programs.

Steve Miller

With more than 40 years of public service, Kit Bond joins alliantgroup’s team as a Senior Advisor. Bond brings his experience as Missouri State Auditor (1971-73), Missouri Governor (1973-77, 1981-85) and as Missouri Senator (1985-2011) to the table. He served as Chairman for the Committee on Small Businesses and Entrepreneurship and as Vice Chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee. He earned a reputation as a skilled statesman able to build coalitions and work across party lines to achieve results. He has long been a leader in the effort to expand economic opportunities for American companies and institutions in the global economy. Born and raised in Missouri, Bond graduated Cum Laude from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University and received his law degree from the University of Virginia.

Kathy Petronchak brings 34 years of experience in directing IRS compliance activities and providing tax controversy services; her career includes service within both the federal government and the private sector. She has worked with a countless number of businesses in examination from both the government’s perspective and in the position of audit defense. In her 29 years with the IRS, Kathy has held a number of roles within the Service, including time as IRS Commissioner of SB/SE from 2006-2008, a role in which she worked directly with small and mid-sized businesses and practitioners on compliance with IRS standards. She was also appointed Chief of Staff under former IRS Commissioner and current alliantgroup Vice Chairman, Mark W. Everson, and was highly praised for the leadership she brought to this position.

Kathy has served as the Chair of the AICPA IRS Practice and Procedures Committee and currently serves as the immediate past chair. She has also been a frequent speaker for AICPA tax controversy conference events. Most recently she was a Director at Deloitte Tax LLP, where she specialized in the area of tax controversy services, providing support for clients in their issues with the IRS.

Kathy Petronchak

As the former Governor of Alabama, Bob Riley was credited with spurring economic development in his home state. One of his most significant contributions to that development was bringing into the state a $4.2 billion steel mill, which created 2,700 new jobs. Prior to his governorship, Bob served three terms in the U.S. House of Representatives. His focus is to continue finding ways to generate new jobs in Alabama and across the country with an emphasis on aerospace, automotive, shipbuilding, engineering and manufacturing. Bob will be able to leverage his strong connections with U.S. Senators and Representatives to make this a reality.

Ron is a co-founder of Abeles and Hoffman based out of St. Louis. In in his current role as president and shareholder, he plays an integral role in the firm’s day-to-day functions, as well as its strategic decisions, and is responsible for firm management, marketing, employee hiring and staff training. Ron advises his clients on a broad range of technical and advisory issues, including the Research and Development Tax Credit. With over four decades of experience in accounting and auditing, taxation, financial consulting, and merger and acquisition services, Ron has earned the respect of the financial industry, and is regular public speaker on trending financial issues. Ronald G. Abeles

Dawn Levy brings a wealth of high-level experience in tax policy, including pensions, transportation tax, and energy tax to D Squared Tax Strategies, a Washington, DC tax policy firm. Dawn is known throughout Washington for her solid understanding of Senate and House procedures. As Tax Counsel to the Senate Finance Committee, Dawn supported the tax team, working energy issues, pension concerns, corporate tax matters, and other tax expenditures. She worked with professional staff and Congressional members, putting amendments together, writing legislation, working with different committees and liaising with the Joint Tax Committee on taxation and the Department of Treasury (including the IRS) on a daily basis. Dawn previously served as Staff Director for the Senate Environment and Public Works Subcommittee on Infrastructure; Executive Vice President of Tax at Cassidy and Associates; and lobbyist and committee director for the National Conference of State Legislatures.

Dawn Levy O’Donnell

Casey Curry, joined alliantgroup as the company’s Director of Corporate Citizenship early 2018.

As a meteorologist by trade and media personality based in Houston, you may have seen Casey on FOX, ABC and NBC, as well as the guest meteorologist on the weekend edition of Good Morning America in New York City.

After earning her Journalism Degree from the University of Colorado and Certificate of Broadcast Meteorology at Mississippi State University, she worked in television all throughout Texas, Chicago, Indianapolis, Denver and Kansas City.

Her whole life has been a bit of an adventure. Casey was born in Panama and moved often, as her father was in the army, and became a U.S. citizen when she was a teenager. She attended nine elementary schools growing up, including one in Wertheim, Germany.

While Casey loved her work as a meteorologist, her continued focus is one of education and awareness as she spends much of her time collaborating with organizations regarding incentives tied to technical talent (ie. The R&D Tax Credit) and encouraging young people to pursue a career in STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics). You will often find her speaking to students about her career in meteorology and experience in the scientific field.

Casey also has a passion for animals and the environment. Casey and her family have fostered dozens of dogs & cats. When she isn’t out in the community, Casey and her husband, Carl, spend their free time chasing after their toddler Winnie, their (formerly feral) kitten, Cougar and their new rescue pup, Rosita.

With dynamic credentials that intersect business, law and computer science, Robert Wonish oversees alliantgroup’s software industry practice group, a team of experts who work to assess the technical activities of software companies applying for the research and development tax credit. Robert has a formal education and hands-on analytical and developmental experience within management information systems and information technology, providing him with a unique appreciation and understanding of the innovative activities that are required of eligible software companies. in addition to his work with software systems and technology clients, Robert also serves as alliantgroup’s Director of Tax Controversy services where he provides guidance to business owners in complicated tax positions.

With an unmistakable passion for software integrated technologies, Margorie McLenan’s leadership has helped software, systems and high-tech businesses claim over $200 million in federal and state tax incentives. She is one of the driving forces behind alliantgroup’s Software Industry Practice Group, where she has steered over 400 tax studies through the identification, substantiation and implementation processes that accompany a tax credit study.

In addition to her client-facing role, Margorie has helped establish and implement new business processes across alliantgroup’s R&D Tax Credit practice, offering her technical expertise to ensure the firm’s procedures are in step with ever-evolving regulations and tax laws. These processes and procedures have helped to establish alliantgroup’s Software and Technology practice as the premier in the industry having delivered over $1.2 billion in incentives and over 2000 clients in the past 10 years.

Margorie McLenan

Reid McLaughlin is a Director at alliantgroup’s international headquarters based in Houston, Texas. He oversees several multi-disciplinary teams in the Research & Development and Employee Retention Credit practices. Reid spent nearly a decade in financial services, financial analysis, valuations, and acquisitions prior to alliantgroup. As a leader in the consulting and implementation practices, he manages teams in the identification, qualification, and quantification of substantial tax savings of varying complexities across numerous industries. Reid received his BA from the University of South Carolina and his MBA from Rice University.

Marsha Wood is a Director at alliantgroup’s international headquarters based in Houston, Texas. She oversees several multi-disciplinary teams in the Research & Development practice. As a leader in the consulting practice, she manages teams in the identification, qualification, and quantification of substantial tax savings. She also oversees alliantgroup’s R&D Operations team. Ed Hanley is a Director and Principal with Shea Labagh Dobberstein. He has extensive experience in all aspects of the real estate industry and in providing tax advice to closely-held businesses and high-net-worth individuals. He was admitted to the bar in Massachusetts in 1996. He started his tax career with the international accounting firm of Ernst & Young, LLP in Boston. In 1991, he transferred to Ernst & Young’s national tax department in Washington, D.C., where he specialized in real estate and pass-through entity taxation. Ed also served as tax counsel at GE Capital Corporation before moving to Providence, RI, where he practiced in its largest regional accounting firm for four years. Ed recently completed three semesters as an adjunct lecturer in economics at Brown University.

Mike Amerio is Managing Partner of Lucas Horsfall, and has over 27 years of public accounting experience. Mike provides audit, income tax and business advisory services to privately held companies and individuals in a wide variety of industries, including manufacturing and distribution, construction, insurance brokerage and non-for-profit organizations.

Tom Barton, a Shareholder with Barton, Walter & Krier, P.C., is the leader in mergers and acquisition services for the firm. Tom works creatively with sellers and buyers of businesses to negotiate transactions that are both accounting and tax favorable. Tom has worked extensively with closely held businesses in management consulting, tax planning and negotiating favorable financing terms for his clients. Tom also assists his clients with succession planning and transfers of family owned businesses. Tom is a graduate of Augsburg College and is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Minnesota Society of Certified Public Accountants. Adam has over 17 years of experience in public accounting. He joined Hughes Pittman & Gupton, LLP in June of 2013. He was previously with Grant Thornton, LLP in Raleigh and prior to that, Arthur Andersen, LLP.

Adam is part of the Firm’s corporate tax practice. He has experience working with clients in a variety of industries including biomedical and pharmaceutical, software and technology development, manufacturing and distribution, retail and hospitality, and venture funds. His experience also includes working with owner-managed businesses in a variety of industries, from the start-up phase to eventual exit by the owner. Adam has focused a significant portion of his career on accounting for income taxes pursuant to ASC 740, including Accounting for Uncertain Tax Positions, SEC reporting, and internal controls of the tax function for SOX compliant companies.

Jackie Buck, CCIFP, is the Vice President of Finance and Administration at Harper Construction where she currently oversees accounting and finance, contract administration, IT, legal and human resources. With more than 30 years of experience, Jackie is recognized nationally as a leading expert in the construction industry. Jackie has served as a CFMA member since 1986, having held every national office for the Association, including Chairman from 2004-2005. She is also a Past Chairman of the Institute of Certified Construction Industry Financial Professionals (ICCIFP) and an industry speaker for the AICPA, AGC, CFMA, NAWIC and Lorman Educational Services.

Jackie Buck

A longtime IRS employee, Ron Cerruti worked for the Service as a forester, engineering and valuation manager, analyst and senior manager. In his capacity as a senior manager, he was responsible for all IRS engineering, real property appraisal and business valuation work in the western United States. Cerruti was also one of the original re-designers of the IRS Engineering and Valuation program and a member of the IRS Conservation Easement Issue Management Team. He has instructed at four National Land Trust Alliance Rallies and presented at professional conferences sponsored by the Appraisal Institute, ASA, ASFMRA, California Bar Association and others.

As an advisor to the firm’s alliantNational office, Cerruti leverages his knowledge and experience for the benefit of small and mid-sized businesses.

Phil joined the Brink, Key & Chludzinski on October 1, 1998 after spending the first 17 years of his career with BDO Seidman, where he enjoyed his role as an audit Partner. Sandwiched in-between those two public accounting roles he held a 14-month position with Arcadia Brewing Company – a company he helped form and still has an ownership interest in today.

Since joining the BKC, Phil has expanded his knowledge beyond audit and accounting and is responsible for tax planning and compliance for a number of individuals and entities in a variety of industries. Having the experience, ability and the complete resources of the firm to provide clients with advice and guidance has allowed Phil to tackle the challenges and opportunities of many of our major clients.

During his time away from the office, Phil enjoys traveling, playing golf and attending sporting/concert events.

Phil Chludzinski

For over 30 years, Rick has provided audit, accounting, tax and consulting services to a wide variety of industries, including real estate, construction, manufacturing, finance, not-for-profit and numerous service industries.

As Co-Managing Partner and a member of the Executive Committee, Rick leads strategic initiatives across the firm including focusing on implementing, monitoring, and modifying the firm’s strategic plan. In addition, he is responsible for W&D’s growth strategies including determining how to best position existing and new services offered by the firm.

He is the immediate past Chairman of the Illinois CPA Society’s Ethics Committee. As part of the AICPA’s Peer Review program, Rick has conducted many reviews of other certified public accounting firms.

Rick Franklin

Scott joined JMF in 1989, was admitted shareholder in 1998, and became Managing Shareholder in 2016. In this role he oversees various administrative and technical divisions of the firm as well as leads and shapes the strategic direction and growth of JMF. In addition to his management role, Scott serves clients in various industries including insurance, real estate, manufacturing and construction.

Scott Goldsmith

Mr. Cooper has practiced public accounting since 1996. He is native to Nashville and attended the University of Mississippi and graduated with a Bachelor of Accountancy in 1995 and a Master of Accountancy in 1996. He began his career with Price Waterhouse, LLP in the products and manufacturing audit division in Memphis, Tennessee and later became part of their prestigious transaction services team based in Atlanta Georgia.

Tim has been concentrating on accounting for construction and real estate development for over seventeen years. He has taken an active role in advising on several mergers and acquisitions of construction companies. His primary passion is proactive tax planning for his clients as well as striving to provide any and all tax incentives available. He has become a proficient leader in the industry assisting qualifying contractors in obtaining well-deserved research and development as well as energy efficiency related tax credits and deductions.

Timothy M. Cooper

Tom Gibbons is an attorney and a CPA. He has over 30 years of extensive accounting, tax and litigation experience in working with animal agriculture, farming, family planning, estate planning, financial planning, manufacturing and international taxation. He has been a past speaker with the National Broiler Council, National Chicken Council, Federal Tax Institute, National Steel Tank Institute, Arkansas Bank Holding Company and the AICPA Tax Institute. Tom has been with FROST, PLLC since 1978.

Donald has a demonstrated history of working in the insurance industry. He’s in Long Term Care Insurance, Property & Casualty Insurance, Universal Life, Litigation Management, and Excess, and has strong business development professional with a BS Commerce focused in Accounting from Rider University.

Donald Friedman

Dennis Gardiner joined the firm in 1984, was promoted to partner in 2003, and made managing partner in January 2011, however he truly grew up surrounded by the business. Like most kids, he did not really know what he wanted to do after graduating from high school (Waukee, IA). Dennis worked retail throughout school and into his college years at Drake University. He enjoyed working retail and thought it might make a good career until his manager at the time really directed him to put his head down and focus on accounting. He grew up always interested in his father’s (Dan Gardiner) career. Dennis worked for the firm while finishing his college degree and then joined the firm shortly after graduating. When Dan Gardiner stepped down, due to health issues in January 2011, Dennis took over and became managing partner. He is very proud to follow in his father’s footsteps and help to continue to grow the firm Dan started.

Dennis specializes in agriculture clients, credit union practice and firm administration. He is a member of AICPA, ISCPA and NSAC, as well as assists the Iowa Institute for Cooperatives with management and director training. Dennis is licensed in Iowa, Minnesota, Illinois, Missouri, Nebraska and California. He has been all across the map and, after almost 30 years, he still enjoys to travel! One of the things he enjoys most is helping clients manage their equity, minimize their tax obligations and build their balance sheet. Dennis thrives on challenging management and the board of directors to look at their business differently by utilizing various allocation alternatives, using different tax deductions and understanding how their decisions affect their balance sheet. Outside of the office you can find Dennis spending time with his family; wife (Laura), daughter and son-in-law (Allison and Grant), daughter and son-in-law (Emily and Robert), son and daughter-in-law (Matthew and Kathleen) as well as his two grandsons (Benson and Wes). He also spends his free time enjoying the outdoors, watching the Chicago Cubs and even a bit of traveling.

Hakopian oversees the vision, strategy, operations and development of the investment management service for First Foundation Advisors. Having been with First Foundation since its inception in 1990, Hakopian became president in 2009 and has been closely involved in developing and delivering the firm’s investment services. Hakopian graduated cum laude from the University of California, Irvine with a Bachelor of Arts in economics, and has earned a MBA in finance from the University of Southern California.

Victor K. Hausmaninger

John Higginbotham brings over three decades of high technology executive leadership to Blue Ridge. He is the manager of the USVC investment group, the founder and managing Member of SpaceVest investment management group, formerly the senior partner of SpaceVest Capital, a co-founder and former senior executive of International Technology Underwriters (Intec), and was the Product Manager for HP’s first microcomputers. Higginbotham has served on the Boards of Directors and as a senior executive of several public and private information technology, aerospace and defense, space industry, and other high technology growth companies. He has actively supported several prominent professional and community service organizations throughout his career. Higginbotham holds a BS in Civil Engineering from Virginia Tech and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Howard Lewis served as a valuation engineer, and first-level, mid-level and top-level manager in both the engineering and valuation programs as well as in the corporate examination programs. In 2000, he was selected as the first IRS National Program Manager for the engineering and valuation programs, where he established the staffing of approximately 400 employees and focused on improving the knowledge, skill and abilities of IRS engineers and appraisers. Lewis also wrote the first valuation standards ever implemented by the IRS and was the Service’s quality improvement coordinator, where he assembled, trained and facilitated dozens of teams in their system improvement activities.

Mike Jain is the founder of Jain and Jain, P.C. Accountants and Tax Consultants, an accounting firm that focuses primarily in assurance and tax services for privately held businesses with revenues of up to $200 million. A current and former member of several business and accounting boards, Mr. Jain is currently a member of the Lieutenant Governor’s Advisory Board (a board that consists of 55 Texas Business and Industry Leaders) and is also a Board Member for Company Allegiance Bancshares, Inc. (ABTX).

In the past, Mr. Jain has also been the Chairman of the Audit Committee for the Bank of Houston as well as the Treasurer of Dan Patrick’s Senate campaign in 2006.

Ryan L. Losi

Following a law degree from Cambridge and a short period in industry, James Mendelssohn spent 10 years developing the marketing functions within two major accountancy practices, both in the UK and overseas.

He then established a print and marketing consultancy, focused on the professional services sector, before taking time out to study for an MBA, with his thesis looking at management structures within international networks of professional services firms.

In 1999, James became the Chief Executive of MSI Global Alliance (MSI), a worldwide association of mid-tier law and accounting firms, with over 250 member firms in more than 100 countries. MSI won the prestigious ‘International Association of the Year’ award in early 2013 at the annual International Accounting Bulletin awards ceremony.

On stepping down from his full-time role with MSI at the end of 2012, and recognising the need that exists within many international networks that are struggling to come to terms with management issues, James established Firm Management Associates, a specialist consultancy focusing on providing management advice to international membership organisations, and the firms that are members of such groups.

Firm Management could be described as a consultancy – but James does not see himself as a consultant. He is simply someone who has worked with and observed over 250 mid-sized law and accounting firms in 100 countries and is interested in working with such firms, and their international membership bodies, to explore how they could and should be managed.

James Mendelssohn

David P. McKelvey is a tax and business consulting partner at Friedman LLP’s New York headquarters. David specializes in the construction and real estate industries. Robert Pratzel is currently Senior Financial Advisor and is former Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer for 26 years with the international design firm of HOK, one of the world’s largest firms in the general building design industry. As CFO, he served on the firm’s holding company and various subsidiary boards of directors, as well as on its Executive Committee and Management Board. Chuck Wilson is the executive director of the National Systems Contractors (NSCA) and he has served in this capacity since 1996. Before being named executive director of NSCA, he served on the organization’s Board of Directors from 1988-1995. NSCA is a not-for-profit association representing the commercial low-voltage electronic systems industry, including systems contractors/integrators, product manufacturers, consultants, sales representatives, architects, specifying engineers and other allied professionals.

Brian Aumueller is a Managing Director in alliantgroup’s New York office with more than 20 years of experience providing consulting services to CPAs and their clients. Brian Aumueller

Representing Tennessee’s 9th District from 1997-2007, during his five terms in office former U.S. Congressman Harold Ford, Jr. built a strong reputation as a bipartisan legislator willing to work across the aisle in the interest of his constituents. Taking over for his father Harold Ford, Sr., who served in the U.S. House of Representatives for 22 years before retiring in 1996, Ford continued his father’s legacy as a civil servant devoted to expanding economic and educational opportunities for all Americans.

Upon entering office, Harold Ford Jr. quickly established himself as a leader and was chosen by his colleagues as freshman class president, providing him added influence as a spokesperson for the newly elected congressional members and as an intermediary with House leaders. The progression of Ford’s committee assignments reflected his resolve to play a significant role in the House, with Ford initially receiving assignments on the House committee’s for Education and Workforce and Government Reform and Oversight before moving on to accept seats on the House Financial Services Committee and the House Budget Committee. Donald DeGrazia is a senior shareholder with Gold, Meltzer, Plasky & Wise. A graduate of LaSalle University, Don is licensed as a CPA in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. He is a member of the AICPA, the New Jersey Society of CPAs, the Institute of Business Appraisers, and serves as Chair of the Business Valuation Committee of the New Jersey Society of CPAs. Don has attained an Accreditation in Business Valuation (ABV) from the AICPA signifying experience and expertise in the valuation of businesses. He also specializes in federal and state taxation, multi-state taxation, matrimonial taxation, and tax nexus issues. Jay Adkisson is author of Adkisson’s Captive Insurance Companies: A Guide to Captives, Closely-Held Insurance Companies and Risk Retention Groups, co-author of Asset Protection: Concepts and Strategies, and author of Equity Indexed Annuities: The Smart Consumer’s Guide. He is a much sought-after speaker and a consultant in the captive insurance industry. Mr. Adkisson is the creator of the website Quatloos.com, an internationally known website that exposes various financial and tax scams. Steve Austin is Firm Managing Partner of Swenson Advisors, LLP. Prior to joining Swenson Advisors, Steve had more than 22 years of experience as an audit partner with Price Waterhouse LLP, and with McGladrey & Pullen, LLP, serving both public and private companies, including high tech, manufacturing, and real estate companies. Jim Cordova serves as chairman of the Tax and Accounting Services Practice at Windes and McClaughry. Jim has more than 15 years of experience in public accounting and specializes in analysis and selection of business entities, business dissolution, reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions, multi-state taxation, foreign parent and subsidiary compliance, and real property tax strategies. Prior to joining SIIA, Collier was Assistant Vice President for Scottish Development International, Scotland’s Economic Development Agency. At SDI Collier played a pivotal sales role with an ambassadorial slant, promoting and representing Scotland in key sectors such as software, creative industries and energy. She developed business growth strategies, coordinated cross geography initiatives and established key partnerships for Scottish and US companies.

Rhianna Collier

A principal of Somerset’s Tax team and a member of our State and Local Tax (SALT) team, Jay has been pivotal to our firm’s growth over the last 20 years. As Somerset’s lead technical tax principal, his tax-area specialties include partnership, subchapter S-Corporation taxation, and state and local tax (including strategies, planning and compliance in all 50 states). Jay A. Feller

Kenneth Wasch is the president of the Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA), the principal trade association of the software and digital content industries. The Washington, D.C.-based organization represents more than 700 leading companies that sell digital intellectual property. SIIA provides global services in government relations, business development, corporate education and intellectual property protection to the leading companies that are setting the pace for the digital age.

Wasch’s involvement in SIIA is based on both personal and professional interests. His long-standing interest in computers and software, coupled with the industry’s need for a central trade association, led him to establish the Software Publishers Association (SPA) in 1984 with an initial group of 25 software firms. Wasch has led the association from its infancy to its merger with the Information Industry Association in January 1999, resulting in the formation of SIIA.

Prior to founding SPA, Wasch spent eight years as a senior attorney for the U.S. Department of Energy, where he was involved with petroleum price regulation. He received his undergraduate degree in Economics and International Relations from Lehigh University, and his law degree from SUNY Buffalo, New York.

Wasch was awarded the Computer Law Leadership Award for significant contributions to the international legal and regulatory systems relating to the computer industry.

He and his wife Lesley, an intellectual property attorney, and their two teenage sons, live in Annapolis, Maryland.

Ken Wasch

David is a Partner in the DiCicco, Gulman & Company’s Commercial Business Group. He has over 25 years of experience focused on the financial advisory needs of closely held businesses, equity investors, legal counsel and financial institutions. David works with clients in the architecture and engineering industry, as well as consumer products, professional service, manufacturing, technology, and finance.

David specializes in auditing and taxation, internal controls and systems, financial and tax planning, placement of debt and equity financing, and succession planning. He is an integral part of the firm’s Transaction Advisory Services team and regularly advises clients on merger and acquisition transactions, due diligence services, and evaluation of new business opportunities.

As the Partner in charge of the firm’s Architecture and Engineering practice, David has significant experience servicing A/E/C firms across the country. His expertise in this area includes evaluating firm profitability, structuring deferred compensation arrangements, merger and acquisition advisory, succession planning and strategic tax planning. Under David’s direction, DGC produces an annual architectural and engineering industry survey and hosts an annual A&E Summit event.
