Stephan Balthasar

Stephan Balthasar is a seasoned legal professional with extensive experience in capital markets, corporate law, and international litigation. Currently serving as Senior Legal Counsel at Allianz Group since January 2015, Balthasar has worked on cross-border disputes and various projects across multiple Allianz entities. In addition to this role, Balthasar has been a Professor at the University of Bayreuth since 2009, specializing in International Commercial Law and related fields. Previous positions include membership in the Securities and Markets Stakeholder Group at the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) and senior legal counsel roles at Euler Hermes, Allianz Asia Pacific, and Allianz France. Balthasar's legal expertise is backed by substantial experience at Linklaters, focusing on international disputes and corporate litigation. Balthasar holds an LL.M. in International Law from the University of Cambridge, a Ph.D. from the University of Strasbourg, and various legal qualifications from Germany.
