Brian Townsend is an experienced aviation professional currently serving as a Safety Representative on the Air Traffic and Procedures Team at the Allied Pilots Association since September 2020. With a career spanning over three decades, Brian has held various roles including Captain and Technical Pilot - Airspace Optimization at American Airlines since November 1990. Brian represents the industry on multiple committees such as the RTCA, NextGen Advisory Committee (NAC), and the Performance Based Operations Aviation Rulemaking Committee (PARC). Previous involvement includes serving as an Industry Representative during the optimization of airspace procedures in the Metroplex and contributing to the NextGen Joint Planning & Development Office. Additionally, Brian has chaired the National Airspace System Modernization for the Air Line Pilots Association from 2005 to 2008.
