Matthías Thórólfsson

Principal Scientist at Alligator Bioscience

Matthías Thórólfsson has a diverse work experience spanning several organizations. In 2000, they began their career as a PhD student at the University of Bergen, focusing on the regulation of enzymatic activity by L-Phenylalanine. Matthías continued as a Post Doc at the university for a brief period, during which they collaborated with Professor Bent W. Sigurskjold at the University of Copenhagen.

Matthías then joined Novo Nordisk A/S in 2004, where they held various roles over the course of 11 years. As a Senior Research Scientist, they contributed to the successful technical transfer of seven research projects and played a leading role in establishing a platform for biophysical characterization of monoclonal antibodies. Later, as a Process Support Scientist, they ensured minimal production delays and product quality by securing critical standards and evaluating non-conformities. Matthías was also responsible for ICH stability testing and reporting.

In 2016, Matthías joined Alligator Bioscience AB as a Principal Scientist, and their current role and responsibilities are unspecified.

Matthías Thórólfsson obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Biochemistry from Háskóli Íslands between 1991 and 1995. Matthías then pursued further education at the University of Bergen (UiB) where they completed a Cand. Scient. degree in Biochemistry from 1996 to 1998. Subsequently, they continued their studies at UiB and earned a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Biophysics from 2000 to 2003.
