Nathan Schomer has a diverse work experience spanning various fields. Nathan is currently working as a Senior Scientist at Allorion Therapeutics since September 2021. Prior to this, they were an Immunology Consultant at Tidal Therapeutics from April to November 2020, where they supported the development of a nanoparticle-based immuno oncology platform and served as an interim PI on animal studies.
From 2017 to 2020, Nathan worked as a Visiting Scientist at the Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research at MIT. During this time, they focused on tumor microenvironment and biodistribution research.
Nathan also has experience as a Cellular Immunologist at Alloplex Biotherapeutics, LLC from February to August 2019, where they worked on expanding and characterizing immune cell subsets for cancer immunotherapy.
Nathan was previously employed at NantKwest as a Lead Researcher from August 2016 to January 2019, where they engineered and reprogrammed natural killer cells to improve targeted cancer cell elimination. Nathan was involved in generating patents and developing cellular immunotherapies.
Earlier in their career, Nathan was a Research Specialist at the Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research at MIT from January 2013 to July 2016. Here, they played a significant role in creating and characterizing a mouse model for nanoparticle biodistribution.
Before entering the field of scientific research, Nathan worked as an In Vivo Biosafety Senior Technologist at Charles River Laboratories from May 2008 to January 2013. In this role, they conducted tests to determine the presence of viruses in model organisms and performed stability testing for AIDS vaccines.
In addition to their scientific roles, Nathan has also worked as a Brewing Instructor at Barleycorn's Craft Brew from 2007 to 2012 and as a GRE Instructor at Kaplan from 2007 to 2009.
Nathan Schomer has a strong educational background in both biology and computer science. Nathan obtained a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from UMass Boston, where they studied from 2000 to 2003. Nathan then pursued a Master's degree in Biology from Harvard University, attending from 2007 to 2011.
In addition to their academic achievements, Nathan Schomer has also obtained two certifications. In 2010, they completed the Heartsaver First Aid certification provided by the American Heart Association. The following year, in 2011, they obtained the Registered Laboratory Animal Technician certification from the American Association for Laboratory Animal Science.
