Jianchao Yao

Jianchao Yao currently serves as Vice President of Research and Early Development & Technical Operations and Quality Technology at Alnylam Pharmaceuticals, a position held since September 2025. Prior to this role, Jianchao Yao was with Merck from November 2020 to August 2025, where responsibilities included serving as Executive Director and leading the Product, Research & Development Sciences IT team, as well as holding positions as Director of IT Business Technology Partner and Director of IT Client Service Lead for Preclinical Development & Translational Medicine. Earlier in the career, Jianchao Yao completed a postdoctoral fellowship in bioinformatics at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory from January 2009 to January 2012. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology (Bioinformatics Track) and a Master of Science in Statistics, both obtained from The University of Texas at Austin between 2003 and 2009.
