Christie Ruales

Christie Ruales has a strong background in product management, software engineering, and entrepreneurship. Christie is currently working as a Product Manager at Alpaca since September 2021. Prior to that, they were the Founder of Amity, a community-based mental health application, where they led the product direction from ideation to implementation, conducting market research and analyzing survey data. Christie also worked as a Co-Founder at Kumi, an online education platform, where they worked as a frontend engineer using React, Node.js, and Material UI.

Christie's work experience also includes roles at prestigious companies such as Google, Amazon, and Citi. At Google, they worked as a Software Engineer Intern on the Google Hotels team, analyzing hotel amenity prices and implementing front-end features. As a Software Engineer Intern at Amazon, they integrated a formal verification tool with Alexa on the Automated Reasoning Group under AWS Security. Christie also gained experience at Citi through multiple internships, where they worked closely with scrum teams, wrote and reviewed test scripts, and created a trivia application.

Christie also has experience in academia, having worked as a Product Manager and Undergraduate Research Assistant at the University of Florida. In their role as a Product Manager, they designed and implemented a patient/admin portal for the UF Neurosurgery Department, working directly with neurosurgeons and overseeing the development process. As a research assistant, they worked in the Florida Institute for Cybersecurity Research Lab, analyzing vulnerabilities in Android phones and network security.

Christie Ruales attended the UF Herbert Wertheim College of Engineering from 2017 to 2021. During this time, they pursued a Bachelor of Engineering degree in Computer Science. In 2019, Christie also attended the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid for a brief period, where they also focused on Computer Science as their field of study.
