Ryan Hughes has been working in the field of biochemistry for over 10 years. In 2009, they began their career as a Volunteer Research Assistant at the University of Kentucky. In 2011, they were hired as a Research Assistant at the University of Cincinnati. From 2012 to 2018, they were a Graduate Research Student at the University of Kentucky. In 2018, they were hired as a Senior Biochemist III at Merck. Most recently, in 2020, they began working as a Protein Purification Scientist at Alphazyme LLC.

Ryan Hughes received their Bachelor of Science in Biology, General from the University of Kentucky in 2011. Ryan then attended Transylvania University from 2007 to 2009 for Undergraduate Studies in Biology, General. In 2012, they returned to the University of Kentucky to pursue a Master's degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, which they completed in 2019.
