Stephana Petrino

Vice President of Quality at Alphazyme

Stephana Petrino has worked in a variety of roles in the field of quality control and forensic DNA analysis. Stephana began their career in 1999 as a Coordinator/Instructor at Massachusetts Bay Community College. In 2001, they worked as a Combined DNA Index System Tech for Massachusetts State Police Crime Laboratory as a temporary employee. Stephana then joined the same organization as a Chemist - Forensic DNA Unit in 2002. In 2007, they moved to Genzyme Genetics as a Molecular Genetics Technologist III and Quality Control Analyst II. In 2010, they became an Independent Consultant as a Forensic DNA Consultant. In 2011, they joined Enzymatics as a Quality Control Manager. In 2015, they moved to QIAGEN as an Associate Director Quality Control. In 2016, they joined T2 Biosystems as a Director Quality Control. Finally, in 2018, they became the Vice President of Quality at Alphazyme LLC. Stephana Petrino has also attended a variety of trainings and professional development seminars.

Stephana Petrino obtained a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Psychology from the University of Southern Maine in Portland, ME in 1990. Stephana then attended Massachusetts Bay Community College, Wellesley, MA, where they obtained an Associate of Science in Biotechnology with a focus in Forensic DNA Science in 2000. From 2001 to 2003, they completed coursework in Forensic Chemistry, Statistics, and Genetics at Fitchburg State College, Fitchburg, MA. In 2004, they obtained a Master of Science in Pharmacy / Pharmaceutical Sciences with a Concentration in Forensic DNA and Serology from the University of Florida, Gainesville FL. In 2009, they obtained a Technologist in Molecular Biology (MB) certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP). In 2016, they obtained a Radiation Safety Officer certification from International Radiation Safety Consulting, Inc. (IRSC).
