Matthew Hayes

Matthew Hayes is a seasoned professional with over two decades of experience in planning and design, currently serving as the Vice President and Southeast Regional Manager at Alta Planning + Design since January 2011. In this role, Matthew oversees the Durham, NC office and leads key planning initiatives across the Southeast, including the management of WalkBikeNC, North Carolina's statewide pedestrian and bicycle plan. Prior to this position, Matthew worked as a Senior Project Manager at Greenways Incorporated from January 2003 to December 2010, where responsibilities included managing bicycle and pedestrian planning efforts and leading GIS mapping and public engagement projects. Matthew holds a Master's degree in Geography from UNC-Chapel Hill and a Bachelor of Science degree in Environmental Science/GIS from Samford University.
