Carlos F. Lopez

Carlos F. Lopez is a Principal Scientist and Lead in Multiscale Modeling at Altos Labs since February 2022. Prior to this role, Carlos served as an Associate Professor of Biochemistry with tenure at Vanderbilt University from September 2015 to March 2022, where leadership encompassed managing research teams and overseeing grants and budgets focused on cellular processes and cancer biology. Carlos's academic journey includes positions as Assistant Professor at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and an Assistant Professor at Vanderbilt University. Additionally, Carlos worked as a Research Fellow at Harvard Medical School and as a Visiting Scientist at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Early in the career, Carlos was a Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Texas at Austin. Educational qualifications include a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the University of Pennsylvania, a Postdoctoral fellowship in Systems Biology at Harvard Medical School, and a current pursuit of the Stanford LEAD Professional Certificate at Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
