Emmett Bergman is a Managing Director with Alvarez & Marsal's North American Commercial Restructuring practice in San Francisco. He brings more than 16 years of experience in senior management positions and as a Financial Adviser to companies, boards and creditors.
Mr. Bergman has been involved in numerous reorganizations and management roles, specializing in formulating and evaluating business plans and capital structures, asset sales, assessing operations, refinancing high-debt loads, developing turnaround strategies and evaluating and preparing forecast models, budgets and cash forecasts.
Mr. Bergman's most recent assignments have been serving as Financial Adviser to Eurofresh, Inc.; CFO and CRO of Port Townsend Paper Corporation; and interim CFO of a software development and licensing company. Other management and advisory assignments include National Energy Group, USGen New England and numerous other public and privately held companies in industries such as high tech, logistics and distribution.
Prior to joining A&M, Mr. Bergman was a Director in the Corporate Restructuring practice of Arthur Andersen. Prior to his work as a Consultant, Mr. Bergman spent nearly five years in Europe in senior management positions (CFO and CEO), managing the restructuring of a diversified holding company in the forestry, retail, beverage and real estate sectors.
Mr. Bergman earned a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of California at Santa Barbara and an MBA from Cornell University's Johnson School. He is a member of the Board of Directors of USGen New England, Inc. and a member of the Northern California Chapter of the Turnaround Management Association (TMA).
