Steven McElwee

Steven McElwee is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in cybersecurity and information technology. Currently serving as the VP & Chief Security Officer at PJM Interconnection since August 2018, Steven leads initiatives in cybersecurity, physical security, and business continuity for a regional transmission organization that supports 65 million people. Previously, Steven was the Chief Information Security Officer, responsible for enterprise cybersecurity strategy and overseeing the development of a sophisticated Cybersecurity Operations Center. Additionally, Steven has held various roles at PJM Interconnection dating back to 2007, as well as leadership positions in information security at VWR and GSI Commerce. Academically, Steven holds a PhD in Information Assurance from Nova Southeastern University, a Master’s degree in Computer and Information Systems Security from Boston University, an MBA in Entrepreneurship from Alvernia University, and a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science from Thomas Edison State University. Steven is also a lecturer in Computer Science at Alvernia University and has served on several cybersecurity advisory boards.
