Katy Newton

Katy Newton is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in UX research, design consulting, and journalism. Currently serving as a Senior UX Researcher at Amazon since October 2022, Katy leads special projects utilizing expertise in strategic communication and human-centered design. Over the years, Katy has contributed to various organizations, including Stick Labs LLC as a Design Consultant, IDEO as a Senior Design Researcher, and Stanford University as a John S. Knight Journalism Fellow. Notable achievements include the development of a geo-responsive social news aggregator funded by the Knight Foundation and the orchestration of a six-month VR media research initiative in partnership with the Stanford d.school and The National Film Board of Canada. Katy holds a Bachelor of Arts in Cinematography and Film/Video Production from San Francisco State University and has a background as an Emmy-nominated journalist at the Los Angeles Times.
