Colin Owen

Colin Owen is a seasoned design professional with extensive experience in academia and industry. Currently serving as the Director of Design at Ambient Photonics since January 2023, Colin focuses on advanced low light energy harvesting PV cells for smart technologies. Colin has held various roles at California College of the Arts, including Senior Director of Design and Technical Marketing and Associate Professor, with tenure awarded in May 2015. In prior positions, Colin served as Acting Chair of the Industrial Design Department, spearheading curricular innovations and urban mobility initiatives. Noteworthy industry roles include Vice President of Design and Design Director at Elroy Air, CEO of Sparse, Head of Product at Jupe, and positions at several reputable design firms. Academic credentials include a Master's degree in Industrial Design from ArtCenter College of Design and undergraduate degrees in Architecture from Rice University.
