Burke Pond has a long and varied work experience. Burke began their career in 1988 as a Co-op Student at the Canadian Space Agency. Burke then moved on to Development Engineer at SKF Magnetic Bearings in 1999, where they modelled and tuned rotordynamics of actively-controlled machinery and developed related software tools. In 2001, they became an Intermediate Engineer at Emerson Process Management. In 2004, they worked as a Contractor at Enbridge Pipelines Inc. Burke then moved on to QuIC Financial Technologies Inc. in 2007, where they held the roles of Developer Lead and Senior Software Developer. In 2011, they became Director, Simulation Framework and Developer Lead at Markit Analytics. Finally, in 2017 they joined Ambyint as a Sr. Data Scientist and Computational Mathematician / Algorithm Developer.

Burke Pond obtained a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Victoria in 1999, following a M.A.Sc. in the same field from the same university in 1993. Prior to that, they obtained a B.Math. in Applied Mathematics from the University of Waterloo in 1991.
