Hibru Kelemu Mebatsion

Hibru Kelemu Mebatsion, PhD, PEng, MBA has over 10 years of experience in product development and engineering. They currently hold the role of Principal Product Development Engineer at Amcor, where they began as a Senior Product Development Engineer in 2019. Prior to that, they worked at Bemis Company, Inc. as a Sr. Development Engineer/Scientist. They also have experience in research, having worked as a Research Associate at the University of Manitoba and as a Researcher at both the University of Manitoba and INRA in France. Additionally, Hibru has industry experience as a Technical Service Engineer at Color Ad Packaging, where they conducted research and led development activities to provide technical support to customers. Their work experience showcases their expertise in product development, research, and engineering.

Hibru Kelemu Mebatsion, PhD, PEng, MBA, holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Chemical Engineering from Addis Ababa University, which was obtained from 1995 to 2000. Hibru Kelemu pursued further studies and completed a Master's degree in Food Technology with a specialization in Food Preservation Engineering from KU Leuven, from 2002 to 2004. In 2008, Hibru obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Bioscience Engineering from KU Leuven. Hibru Kelemu also attained a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification from Villanova University in 2012. Additionally, Hibru completed their Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh in 2022. Hibru Kelemu was a member of Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO) from an unspecified period and Engineers Geoscientists Manitoba until 2013.
