David Bernhardt is an accomplished attorney and public servant with extensive experience in natural resource management and environmental law. Currently serving as Chair of the Center for American Freedom at the America First Policy Institute since May 2021, Bernhardt also holds a position as a member of 53 Solutions LLC. Previously, Bernhardt acted as Senior Counsel at Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck from April 2021 to September 2024 and served as Secretary of the Interior and Deputy Secretary at the U.S. Department of the Interior from August 2017 to January 2021. Bernhardt's earlier roles include Shareholder at Brownstein Hyatt Farber Schreck, Commissioner for the International Boundary Commission, and Solicitor at the U.S. Department of the Interior, where responsibilities included leading legal initiatives and overseeing significant legal matters related to the department's jurisdiction over public lands. Bernhardt earned a Juris Doctor degree from The George Washington University Law School.
