Laura Hanson

Laura Hanson serves as the AVP & Assistant General Counsel at Pacific Life since January 2021 and has held the role of AVP Actuary since then. Laura is also a board member at the Minnesota Life and Health Guaranty Association and the American Academy of Actuaries, where Laura is the Vice Chair of the Actuarial Standards Board and has chaired the ASB Task Force to Revise ASOP 22 from 2018 to 2022. Previously, Laura held various leadership roles at the American Academy of Actuaries, including Board Member & Vice President for Life, and contributed to several key committees focused on life products and diversity initiatives. Prior experience includes serving as an actuary at Allianz Life for almost 14 years, where Laura collaborated on policy development, regulatory advisement, and product innovation. Educational qualifications include a Juris Doctor from Mitchell Hamline School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics, Economics, and Art from the University of Minnesota.
