Caryn Etkin

Director, Clinical Registries And Quality Science at American Academy of Dermatology

Caryn Etkin has over 20 years of work experience in the healthcare industry. Currently, they hold the position of Director, Clinical Registries and Quality Science at the American Academy of Dermatology since 2021. Prior to that, they worked at Northwestern University - The Feinberg School of Medicine from 2018 to 2020 as a Research Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery and as the Administrative Director of the Surgical Outcomes and Quality Improvement Center.

From 2011 to 2018, Caryn Etkin served as the Director of Analytics for the American Joint Replacement Registry at the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. Before that, they worked at Rush University Medical Center as an Assistant Professor from 2007 to 2011, where they conducted and managed various research projects, including an NIH clinical trial. Caryn also served as a Visiting Research Specialist at the University of Illinois at Chicago from 1999 to 2011 and as a Research Coordinator at Rush University Medical Center from 1998 to 2000. Additionally, they worked as a Social Science Analyst at the Department of Veterans Affairs--Edward Hines, Jr. Hospital from 1997 to 1998. Caryn Etkin also had a brief role as a Co-Investigator at the Leonard Schanfield Research Institute at CJE SeniorLife in 2006.

Caryn Etkin's education history begins with their high school education at Latin School of Chicago from 1986 to 1990. Caryn then pursued their bachelor's degree in History and Sociology at Emory University from 1990 to 1994. Following that, Caryn obtained their Master's in Public Health (MPH) from the University of Michigan, specializing in Health Behavior and Health Education from 1995 to 1997. Caryn furthered their education by completing a PhD in Community Health Sciences from the University of Illinois Chicago, spanning the years 1999 to 2006. Finally, in 2020, Caryn enrolled in a Certificate Program in Executive Learning & Organizational Change at Northwestern University, which they are currently pursuing.
