Steven Waldren

Chief Medical Informatics Officer at American Academy of Family Physicians

Steven Waldren has a diverse work experience in the healthcare industry. Steven started their career at the American Academy of Family Physicians in 2006 and held various roles including Director of the Center for Health-IT and Senior Health Care IT Strategist. In 2014, they became the Director of the Alliance for eHealth Innovation, where they focused on optimizing electronic health records and supporting family physicians in achieving better healthcare outcomes. Steven joined Da Vinci in 2019 as the Co-Chair of the Clinical Advisory Council and became a Board Member at Logica Health, a provider-led consortium tackling interoperability challenges in healthcare. Waldren also served as Vice-chair of the E31 Health Informatics Committee at ASTM International and as a Commissioner at the Medicaid & CHIP Payment and Access Commission. Steven was a Board Member at the National Integration Academy Council and the Multi-Payer Claims Database. Additionally, Waldren was a member of the PDF Healthcare Technical Committee, a Technical Expert Panelist for the Global Assessment of the Value of HIT and ONC, and the Board Chair of the Center for Improving Medication Management.

Steven Waldren earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biology and Chemistry from Pittsburg State University, where they studied from 1991 to 1995. Steven then attended the University of Kansas Medical Center from 1995 to 1999, earning a Doctorate of Medicine (M.D.) degree. Later, from 2002 to 2004, they pursued a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Healthcare Informatics from the University of Missouri-Columbia.
