Ala Santos

Ala Santos, PhD, currently serves as CEO of the Polonium Foundation and holds the position of Faculty on the Disruptive Technology Award at the American Association for Clinical Chemistry. With a rich background in leadership roles, Santos was President and Board Chair of Women In Bio, with additional responsibilities including Advisory Board Chair and Alliance Committee Chair. Prior to these roles, Santos contributed significantly to Abbott as Team Lead for New Technology in Transfusion Medicine and Senior Scientist in Diagnostics, focusing on molecular assays and product development. Academic achievements include a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology from the University of Chicago and experience in venture capital and research at institutions like the Chicago Biomedical Consortium and the University of Chicago.
