Janaya Thompson is the Deputy Director of the Office of Science, Policy and Society Programs (OSPSP). In this role, she assists with the programmatic-wide strategic planning, ensures implementation of strategic goals and oversees the grant and organizational budgets for OSPSP. Prior to joining AAAS in 2014, she worked as the Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at the DC College Access Program. Her professional responsibilities have included oversight of finance and administration in various offices, management of college access offices within DC charter schools, and assisting students with enrollment and financial aid opportunities. She has also worked as an Assistant Director of Admissions at Wilson College in Chambersburg, PA.
Ms. Thompson holds dual Bachelor degrees from West Virginia University in Foreign Languages and Philosophy. In addition, she holds a Bachelor of Science in Accounting, a Master of Science in Management with a concentration in Nonprofit Management, and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Maryland University College. Ms. Thompson also completed the Effective Leadership Institute conducted by Leadership Greater Washington. She is deeply committed to organizations that enhance educational opportunities for underrepresented minorities.
