Alvaro Ascanio Sanchez currently serves as the Vice President of the AAPG-UIS Student Chapter and Project Manager for the AAPG-UIS Student and Young Scientist Chapter at the American Association of Petroleum Geologists since August 2023. Additionally, Alvaro is an Undergraduate Research Assistant at Universidad Industrial de Santander, focusing on applied geophysics research within the SIGAC group, which is part of GIGBA. This role has allowed Alvaro to deepen knowledge in structural horizon identification, geological body mapping, and reservoir evaluation. Alvaro is pursuing a degree in Geology at Universidad Industrial de Santander, expected to be completed by December 2024.
