Ada Okafor

Ada Okafor, Esq. serves as the General Counsel and Chief Diversity Equity and Inclusion Officer at the American Board of Surgery, a position held since June 2021, and previously held the role of Associate General Counsel with the same responsibilities. Prior experience includes serving as Of Counsel in Employee Benefits and Executive Compensation at Ballard Spahr LLP from November 2019 to April 2021, and as an Associate in the same field at Reed Smith LLP from January 2018 to October 2019. Ada began their legal career at Groom Law Group, Chartered, where tenure included roles as an Associate focusing on Employee Benefits and ERISA Litigation from September 2012 to December 2017 and a Summer Associate in June 2011. Educational qualifications include a Juris Doctor degree from American University Washington College of Law (2009-2012) and a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Government and English from Southern Methodist University (2003-2007).
