Racquel Jemison is an accomplished professional in the field of chemistry with significant expertise in inclusion and belonging within academic and professional organizations. Currently serving as the Assistant Director at the American Chemical Society since December 2016, Racquel leads initiatives that promote diversity and collaboration across the chemistry enterprise. Previous roles include Program Manager and Student Experiences Portfolio Manager, where Racquel managed the ACS Scholars and Project SEED programs, as well as Senior Education Associate responsible for the ACS Scholars program. Prior to joining the American Chemical Society, Racquel was a Senior Chemist at The Dow Chemical Company and a Doctoral Researcher at Carnegie Mellon University, focusing on organic polymers for photovoltaic applications under the guidance of Dr. Richard McCullough. Racquel holds a PhD in Chemistry from Carnegie Mellon University and a BS in Chemistry from Morgan State University, complemented by an International Baccalaureate diploma from Franklin High School.
