Sterling Bowen (he/him/his) has held positions in the energy industry since 2006. Sterling began their career as the Information and Referral Center Manager at the North Carolina Department of Administration State Energy Office. From 2008 to 2012, they were the Federal Services Senior Manager at Southern Energy Management, where they were responsible for winning 25+ projects at DoD and Civilian-agency sites in 8 US States and the Bahamas. From 2012 to 2016, they were the Director of Sales, Solar at PowerSecure, Inc., where they were responsible for identifying and closing on new opportunities for Distributed Generation business unit. During this same period, they were also the Business Development Advisor at Spotlight Solar, where they worked with organizations- businesses, utilities and government units- to make their investments in clean energy more visible. Since 2016, they have been the Head of Residential EE at American Efficient.
Sterling Bowen began their educational journey at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where they earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Fine Arts and Interdisciplinary Honors in 1996. Sterling then attended the University of Houston from 1998 to 2000, studying Fine Arts. In September 2021, they obtained a Marketing Foundations: Consumer Behavior certification from LinkedIn.
