Kasun Samarasinghe

Kasun Samarasinghe is a seasoned data science professional with extensive experience in the financial and academic sectors. Currently serving as Director of Data Science and Lead Data Scientist at American Express since December 2017, Kasun focuses on optimizing decision-making through advanced machine learning algorithms in industrial applications. In addition to industry roles, Kasun has been an Adjunct Professor at Northeastern University since September 2019, teaching courses on Data Mining and Modern AI Applications. Previous positions include Data Scientist at InAuth, Inc. and Research Intern at MERL, where analytical skills were honed through various projects. Kasun holds a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Cincinnati, where research included the development of novel algorithms for source localization and optimization techniques. Educational background also includes a BSc in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Peradeniya and an Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting from CIMA.
