Senior Vice President And Chief Public Policy Officer at American Foundation for Suicide Prevention

John Madigan has extensive work experience in the field of public policy and advocacy. John started their career as a Staff Assistant for Senator Birch Bayh in 1977 and then served as an Assistant Director of Public Affairs for the US Alcohol Fuels Commission. John later worked as a Lobbyist for Bayh, Tabbert and Capehart. In 1982, they joined the American Cancer Society as an Assistant Vice President for Government Relations. John then transitioned to the National Health Council, where they served as Vice President for Government Relations. In 2003, they joined SIFE as a Senior Vice President for Development. John then worked at TVC as a Senior Vice President and Acting President. Since 2009, they have been working at the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, where they currently hold the position of Senior Vice President and Chief Public Policy Officer. Throughout their career, they have achieved significant successes in suicide prevention advocacy and secured important legislative victories at the federal and state levels.

John Madigan attended Brookdale Community College from 1975 to 1977, where they earned an Associate of Arts (AA) degree in Social Sciences. John then pursued further education at The George Washington University from 1977 to 1979, earning a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Political Science.
