Matthew Hillard has extensive work experience in various industries. Matthew started their career in the United States Marine Corps, where they worked as a DECM/IT Technician from 1988 to 1993. Following that, they worked at Snow Trails Winter Resort as a Snowboard Instructor and Skirmish Co-Manager from 1993 to 1997. Matthew then joined USAToday/Gannett Newspapers as a Graphic Designer and IT Specialist from 2000 to 2005. Currently, they work at American Freight Furniture, Mattress, Appliance / Bad Fish Studios as a Creative Director and Graphic Designer, a role they have held since 2005.

Matthew Hillard attended Western Kentucky University from 1997 to 2000, where they pursued a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in Graphic Design/UX. Prior to that, from 1995 to 1997, they studied at The Ohio State University, earning an Associate of Arts (AA) degree in Drawing. Additionally, Matthew has professional experience serving in the United States Marine Corps, specializing in IT/DECM. During their time in the military, they focused on Network Communications, Deceptive Electronic Counter Measures, and Fleet Anti-terrorism Security Teams.
