Chase Johnson

Research Associate at American Institutes for Research

Chase Johnson has had a diverse range of work experiences. In 2014, they served as a Summer Intern for the North Carolina Democratic Party and also worked as an Office Assistant for the UNC-CH College of Arts and Sciences Business Operations. In 2015, they served as a Legislative Intern for Rep. Tricia Cotham at the North Carolina General Assembly, where they researched public policy issues and fulfilled constituent service duties. From 2016 to 2017, Chase worked as a Presidential Fellow at the University of North Carolina System office, providing high-level support to various departments and conducting data analysis for strategic planning. From 2017 to 2019, they were a Research Assistant at MDRC, where they assisted in evaluating programs for low-income students and participated in research activities. In 2020, they interned at the NC Office of State Budget & Management, conducting policy analysis and supporting the development of training modules. Also in 2020, Chase worked as a Policy and Research Intern at The Hunt Institute, conducting research and providing support in various areas. Finally, in 2021, they became a Communications and Policy Fellow at Higher Learning Advocates, conducting research and drafting materials for outreach and social media strategy. Currently, Chase is a Research Associate at the American Institutes for Research.

Chase Johnson completed their education with a Master of Public Policy degree from Duke University Sanford School of Public Policy, where they studied from 2019 to 2021. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill between the years 2014 and 2016. Additionally, Chase Johnson earned an Associate of Arts (A.A.) degree from Wake Technical Community College, where they pursued their studies from 2012 to 2014.
