Evan Nielsen

Senior Researcher at American Institutes for Research

Evan Nielsen's work experience began in 2006 as a High School Teacher at Chicago Hope Academy. From 2008 to 2016, Evan worked at NORC at the University of Chicago, first as a Survey Specialist and then as a Survey Director. During this time, Evan managed survey instruments, coordinated mail out activities, conducted qualitative interviews, and analyzed survey response data. Since 2016, Evan has been working at the American Institutes for Research, initially as a Researcher and currently as a Senior Researcher. In this role, Evan oversees the collection, processing, and reporting of data from public libraries and leads business development efforts related to library research and evaluation.

Evan Nielsen's education history includes multiple degrees and certifications. Evan obtained a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in History and Social Science from Wheaton College from 2001 to 2005. Following this, they pursued a Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) degree in Secondary Education, also at Wheaton College, from 2005 to 2010.

To further enhance their education, Evan enrolled in additional certifications. In December 2020, they completed a Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Specialization program from Coursera. Additionally, in February 2020, they obtained a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute.

Currently, Evan is working towards a Master of Science (MS) degree in Spatial Data Science at Penn State World Campus. Evan began this program in 2021 and is expected to complete it in 2024.
