Senior Researcher at American Institutes for Research

Katie Rich has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Katie is currently employed as a Senior Researcher at the American Institutes for Research since August 2021. Prior to this, they worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at Michigan State University from August 2017 to August 2021.

Before their time at Michigan State University, Katie held multiple roles at The University of Chicago. From February 2012 to August 2021, they served as a Curriculum Developer for the Everyday Mathematics, Fourth Edition program. In this role, they conducted research, recommended revisions, and wrote and reviewed lessons for various grade levels. Katie also facilitated professional development seminars and incorporated feedback from teachers and students into material revisions. Additionally, from October 2007 to February 2012, they worked as an Editor for the University of Chicago School Mathematics Project series, where they edited student and teacher editions and contributed to extra practice and assessment materials.

Katie began their career as a Production Editor at McGraw Hill Education from June 2005 to September 2006.

Katie Rich obtained their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) in Mathematics from Western Michigan University between 2001 and 2005. Katie then pursued a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Learning Sciences at Northwestern University from 2006 to 2007. In 2017, Katie began their studies at Michigan State University, where they completed their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Educational Psychology and Educational Technology in 2021.
