Research Associate at American Institutes for Research

Mackenzie Melton has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. From 2015 to 2019, they worked as a Bookseller at The Country Bookshop, where they provided excellent customer service, organized events with authors, and managed cash transactions. In 2019, they also worked as a Curatorial Intern at Ackland Art Museum, assisting curators with research, exhibitions, and acquisitions. Mackenzie then served as a Campus Recreation Facilities and Operations Ambassador at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. In 2020, Melton was a Legislative Affairs & Communications Intern at the Alliance for Retired Americans, contributing to member newsletters and producing materials on healthcare and Social Security. From 2019 to 2021, they served as a Studio Manager at Royal Grace Academy of Dance, overseeing reception, office management, and promotional design. Currently, they are working at American Institutes for Research as a Research Assistant, providing technical and research support on projects related to early childhood literacy and special education.

Mackenzie Melton completed their Bachelor of Arts degree in Public Policy at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 2017 to 2021. Additionally, they obtained a certification in the Human Research Basic Course from the CITI Program in June 2021.
