Senior Financial Analyst at American Institutes for Research

Mary Steponkus has extensive experience in finance and accounting roles. Mary currently works as a Senior Financial Analyst at the American Institutes for Research since October 2021. Prior to this, they were the Accounting and Finance Manager at Peace Coffee from November 2018 to October 2021, where they supervised AP and AR Specialists, maintained general ledger and balance sheet, managed fixed assets, and handled forecasting, budgeting, treasury, and sales tax management.

Before their role at Peace Coffee, Mary worked as an Independent Consultant at Budget and Financial Management Consultant, where they collaborated with for-profit and non-profit organizations to develop cost proposals for US Government agencies. In this role, they managed all finance, accounting, human resources, and facilities activities for an international development non-profit organization. Mary developed and managed a $2.97 million annual operating budget.

Mary's previous experience includes roles at Crown Agents USA, where they worked as a Pricing Manager from June 2013 to August 2014, and at ACDI/VOCA, where they served as the Deputy Director of Budget and Finance from January 2012 to June 2013, and as a Budget and Finance Specialist from October 2010 to January 2012. At both organizations, they managed cost proposals, conducted financial analysis, and prepared financial reports.

Mary also has experience from Millennium Partners Consulting, LLC, where they worked as a Program and Finance Manager from June 2009 to October 2010, and Millennium - IP3 Partners, where they served as a Financial Administrator from March 2008 to June 2009. In these roles, they managed accounting activities, monitored program deliverables and expenses, and prepared invoices.

Mary has additional experience as a Baker and Head Baker at CakeLove from October 2007 to June 2009, and as a Corporate Accountant at SEGURA Consulting, LLC from October 2006 to November 2007. In these positions, they managed production and accounting activities, respectively.

Mary Steponkus has a diverse education history. Mary attended Edgerton High School, although the dates of their attendance are unknown. After high school, they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Relations and Russian Language from Cornell College, which they completed between 1995 and 1999. Later, they furthered their education by obtaining a Master of Arts degree in European and Eurasian Studies from the Elliott School of International Affairs at The George Washington University, attending from 2001 to 2004. In 2001, they also studied Russian Language at Liden and Denz - St Petersburg. Additionally, Mary engaged in accounting coursework at the Graduate School USA between 2010 and 2012.
