Research Intern at American Institutes for Research

Chelsea Hood, MSW, LGSW, LMSW has a diverse range of work experience in the field of social work. Chelsea is currently working as a Psychotherapist at the Washington Area Clinical Center, starting in September 2022. Prior to this, they served as a Research Intern at the American Institutes for Research from October 2021 onwards. From June 2020 to May 2023, Chelsea worked as an Underserved Populations Policy Advocate at the Maryland Coalition Against Sexual Assault. Chelsea also gained experience as a Group Facilitator at the House of Ruth Maryland from September 2021 to April 2022. Chelsea began their career as a Graduate Research Assistant at Howard University, where they worked from August 2019 to May 2020.

Chelsea Hood, MSW, LGSW, LMSW earned their Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in Psychology from Fort Valley State University, where they studied from 2008 to 2013. Following this, they pursued their Master of Social Work (MSW) degree at Clark Atlanta University, completing their studies between 2014 and 2016. Chelsea is currently a doctoral candidate at Howard University, where they are working towards a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Social Work. Their expected completion date is in 2024.

In addition to their academic achievements, Chelsea Hood is also a Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW) certified by the DC Board of Social Work. Chelsea obtained this certification in July 2022.
