Phomdaen Souvanna has extensive work experience in research and analysis roles. Currently, they are serving as a Senior Researcher at the American Institutes for Research since 2022. Prior to this, Phomdaen held the position of Senior Analyst at Abt Associates from 2015 to 2022, where they evaluated education policies and programs and authored reports and presentations summarizing study findings. They also worked as a Vision Project Research Associate at the Massachusetts Department of Higher Education from 2014 to 2015, and as a Research Associate at the Boston Plan for Excellence from 2010 to 2013. In these roles, Phomdaen contributed to the development of research agendas, conducted data analysis, and managed program data. Furthermore, they gained experience in research analysis as a Senior Research Analyst at The Lewin Group from 2006 to 2010, maintaining databases and designing research studies. Additionally, Phomdaen worked as a Research Assistant at Full Circle Community in 2009, providing technical assistance and conducting data analysis. They also served as a Student Research Assistant at the Institutional Research Center, Tufts University from 2003 to 2005, and as a Research Intern at the Beacon Hill Institute for Public Policy Research in 2004.
Phomdaen Souvanna completed a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Tufts University between the years 2001 and 2005. Subsequently, they pursued a Master of Public Policy degree in Advanced Policy Analysis from the University of Minnesota from 2008 to 2010. Currently, Phomdaen is pursuing a PhD in Social Policy (Children, Youth, & Families) at The Heller School for Social Policy and Management at Brandeis University, with an expected completion in 2022.
