Sushmita Subedi

Sushmita Subedi, PhD, has extensive experience in the field of education research and policy. Sushmita currently serves as a Senior Researcher at the American Institutes for Research, where they lead large-scale research and evaluation projects focused on educational equity, school and district improvement, teacher and principal preparation, and professional development. Sushmita also takes charge of knowledge sharing efforts within projects and with clients, as well as leads business development efforts. Prior to this role, they worked as a Researcher at the same organization.

Additionally, Sushmita has served as an Education Policy Fellow at the Institute for Educational Leadership, where they contributed to education policy initiatives. Sushmita has also worked as a Research and Project Lead at Transforming Education, where they led research design, data management, data analysis, and reporting for a multi-year partnership with the NewSchools Invent cohort, involving over 11,000 students in 37 schools across 15 states. Sushmita was responsible for preparing manuscripts for journal submissions and creating reports and presentations for clients.

Earlier in their career, Sushmita gained experience as a Graduate Researcher at UMass Boston - John W. McCormack Graduate School of Policy and Global Studies, where they managed and analyzed data for research projects on women in public service and co-authorship networks in public service motivation. Sushmita also developed a database for a study on women in public service.

Furthermore, Sushmita worked as a Graduate Research Intern at the Rennie Center for Education Research and Policy and as a Teaching Assistant at UMass Lowell, where they provided academic support and assisted professors in economics, statistics, and international trade.

Sushmita'swork experience also includes serving as a Research Associate at Save the Children International, where they trained and managed interviewers and research staff, coordinated survey administration and data collection activities in Nepal, analyzed survey data, and participated in business development activities.

Sushmita Subedi, PhD, earned their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Public Policy Analysis from UMass Boston, completing their studies from 2015 to 2020. Prior to that, they earned a Master's Degree in Public Policy from UMass Boston, attending from 2013 to 2015. Sushmita also holds a Masters degree in Economic and Social Development of Regions (RESD) from the University of Massachusetts Lowell, where they studied from 2011 to 2013. Sushmita'sBachelor's Degree in Business Administration was obtained from Purbanchal University, where they attended from 2005 to 2009.

In addition to their formal education, Sushmita Subedi has obtained several certifications. In 2017, they completed the SDP Institute for Leadership in Analytics offered by the Center for Education Policy Research at Harvard University. In 2013, they obtained the certification "Introduction to Statistics: Inference" from edX, and in January 2013, they received the certification "The Challenges of Global Poverty" also from edX.
