Kara Homan

Kara Homan, AICP, is the current Director of Community Development for the City of Appleton, Wisconsin, since January 2023. Previously, Kara served as President of the American Planning Association Wisconsin Chapter and held leadership roles at Outagamie County as Director of Development & Land Services and Planning Director. With extensive experience in regional planning, economic and community development, and comprehensive planning, Kara has worked in various capacities, including as Principal Planner for the City of Menasha and the East Central Wisconsin Regional Planning Commission. Educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in Geography from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a Master of Science in Urban and Regional Planning from the University of Iowa, and further coursework towards a Public Administration certificate at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
