Christy Thiems, CPCU, AIC, AIM, ARM, AIS, has a diverse and extensive work experience in the insurance industry. Christy is currently serving as the Assistant Vice President at the American Property Casualty Insurance Association since February 2023. Prior to this, they were the Senior Director at the same organization from January 2016 to April 2023.
Before joining the American Property Casualty Insurance Association, Christy worked at Transguard Insurance Company of America, Inc. as a Claims Manager from February 2005 to January 2016. During their tenure, they effectively managed all operations of the department, ensuring efficient claims handling and compliance with company and regulatory requirements. Christy also achieved a 30% reduction in the loss ratio for Occupational Accident claims in the first year. Additionally, they supervised a team of eight to 30 members, handling their personnel and budgetary matters.
Christy's previous experiences include working as a Senior Claims Representative at Gallagher Bassett from July 2003 to February 2005, where they handled high exposure Workers' Compensation claims and served as the primary customer service contact for clients. At AmComp, they were a Senior Adjuster from August 2002 to July 2003, responsible for handling high exposure Workers' Compensation claims and contributing to the development of new product offerings. Christy also served as a Team Manager at Liberty Mutual Insurance from August 1999 to August 2002, managing three Claim Service Teams and overseeing the handling of more than 1400 files for a national market policyholder.
Christy's work experience also includes being a Senior Case Manager at Liberty Mutual Insurance from September 1997 to August 1999, where they led a team managing Workers' Compensation claims and provided technical guidance and training. Over the years, they have gained extensive knowledge and expertise in various aspects of claims management, customer service, and team leadership in the insurance industry.
Christy Thiems, CPCU, AIC, AIM, ARM, AIS, completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences/Liberal Studies at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign from 1991 to 1994. In 2003, they pursued further studies and obtained a Master of Arts degree in Secondary Education and Teaching from National Louis University.
