Gia Merlo

Gia Merlo, MD, MBA, MEd, currently serves as the Founding Chair of the Lifestyle Psychiatry Caucus of the American Psychiatric Association since September 2023. In addition, Gia holds the position of Fellow at the American College of Lifestyle Medicine and is a Clinical Professor and Senior Advisor on Wellness at New York University, where Gia has been since July 2019. Gia contributes to the American Journal of Lifestyle Medicine as an Associate Editor and is involved in medical education as a Clinical Professor of Psychiatry at New York University School of Medicine. Previous roles include serving as an Adjunct Professor and Associate Dean of Health Professions at Rice University and as a Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist at Texas Children's Hospital, alongside an academic role at Baylor College of Medicine. Gia's educational background includes multiple advanced degrees in health professions, medical education, and business, underscoring a commitment to integrating healthcare and education.
