Matt Freitas is an experienced conservation professional with a strong background in restoration ecology and environmental management. Currently serving as the Director of California Headwaters Conservation at American Rivers since January 2020, Matt previously held the position of Associate Director of Headwaters Conservation at the same organization. Prior experience includes Program Manager at Truckee River Watershed Council and Restoration Ecologist roles at both Restoration Resources and Sierra Streams Institute, where Matt designed and implemented multiple restoration projects and managed substantial grant budgets. Matt's academic credentials include a Master of Science in Ecology from the University of California, Davis, and a Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
