Melissa MacHaalani

Student Chapter President at ASABE - American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers

Melissa Machaalani has a diverse work experience in the fields of engineering, environmental policy, and sustainability. Melissa founded and currently serves as the Student Chapter President of the American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) in Lebanon and the MENA region. Melissa also interned at the Issam Fares Institute for Public Policy and International Affairs, where they focused on climate change and environmental policies in the Middle East and North African region. Additionally, they gained knowledge about sustainability in the construction industry and applied LEED Green Building strategies during their internship at the INDEVCO Group's technology hub.

Melissa Machaalani attended Holy Spirit University of Kaslik (USEK) from 2020 to 2025, where they earned an Engineer's degree in Agricultural Engineering. In 2023, they briefly attended Saint Mary's College but did not obtain a degree. Prior to their university studies, Melissa earned their High School Diploma from College Notre Dame De Louaize, which they attended from 2017 to 2020.

In addition to their formal education, Melissa has obtained several certifications. In 2022, they completed the Basics of Consulting and Case Solving, PowerPoint Tools and Structured Communication, and Introduction to Financial Analysis courses at LAU Case Competition. In 2021, they participated in the Water Innovation Lab Global program by Waterlution Canada. In 2019, Melissa attended the Chemistry Summer Camp at Lebanese American University and the Computer Science Summer Camp at Notre Dame University - Louaize (NDU). In 2019, they also participated in the Young Entrepreneurship Showdown (YES) at Notre Dame University - Louaize (NDU).
